UPDATE CHRISTMAS EVE

SEASONS GREETINGS TO YOU ALL!!

FIRSTLY A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS ALREADY DONATED HERE OR PLACED CASH INTO THE DONATION BOX AT THE END OF OUR DRIVE.  IT'S ALL MOST APPRECIATED!!!

The Campaign is going well!  We have yet to discover how much we've raised from the cash that has been placed into the donation box at the end of our drive + we have a silent auction going on in the background, the results of which will be discovered on the 6th of January 2020. However, it would great if we could hit our £1000.00 target without including the above.

We are in the last couple of weeks of our campaign so I must make a further appeal to anyone reading this, or to anyone you may know? to help us reach our goal.  Any donations will be appreciated.  Incidentally for donations made via this website, a further 25% could be added through the Gift Aid scheme. (eligible to all UK Citizens paying tax in the UK)

The lights will be available to see from dusk until late all over the Christmas period, right up until the the 5th of January 2020.

So if you haven't already done so please come along and see our lovely display and grotto over the holiday period in our beautiful village of Cardington. Why not park up and visit our local pub THE KINGS ARMS for a drink and have a short walk around the village (we are less than 30 metres away on Southill Road). There are several houses with lights on show, and if you go to the White Light tree by the Church next to the giant Baubles you may discover the magical Muskrat tree of Holm Oak Green? After which you can walk up to Southill Road to visit our "little" display! Please feel free to come up the drive and see the grotto close up, as well as Santa in his plane at the end, along the pretty laser show on the left side wall. PLEASE ENJOY AND TELL YOUR FRIENDS!

A VERY HAPPY CHRISTSMAS

'LIGHTING UP CHRISTMAS” EVENT SATURDAY 30TH NOVEMBER 2019'

We held the big Christmas Light switch last Saturday 30th November and lots of guests arrived around 5.00pm to make their way to the marquee which had been put up in our back garden.

Duly fortified with drink in hand, our guests were asked to congregate at the bottom of the drive when, at 6.00pm 3 Counties Radio presenter Gareth Lloyd kindly said a few words and announced the big countdown!

Here's a link to an interview Gareth recorded with us on the night :

FYI - it starts 2 hrs 51 mins and 25 seconds in :

The lights were switched on and everyone was duly impressed, the display this year has easily outshone previous efforts!

Entertainment was provided for our guests by ukulele band “Tukes” and Donna Samuels, a local singer who provided super renditions of some seasonal classics.

Jenny and Stuart’s daughter Elisabeth and Christine, Jenny’s mum, did a sterling job with the catering on the night and there was plenty of food to go round.

Before the festivities began however, Manager Jenny of the Smart Prebend Centre said a few words which really helped to put people in the picture about what exactly the centre does.

Jenny spearheaded the raffle ticket sales and plenty were sold on the night, prizes were won and we certainly had a very successful evening with everyone enjoying themselves.

Our display carries on until 5th January with the lights going on at dusk each day so that people can stop by to see them and donate some cash into the collection box provided to show their appreciation. Our Silent Auction is also running until 5th January with the winners being announced on 6th January; at this point we will also be able to announce exactly how much cash we have raised for the Smart Prebend Centre – so watch this space!

OUR STORY

SEASONS GREETINGS!

We are Jenny and Stuart and we are lighting up our home in Cardington again this year with a "tasteful" display of festive lights that can (probably!) be seen from space.  This will be taking place over the Christmas period from the 1st of December to the 5th of January 2020.

We hope that you will visit and see our lighting extravaganza and help raise money for the SMART Prebend Centre in Bedford.  This is a vital local charity and a much needed facility, which provides practical support and guidance to relieve rough sleeping and to prevent further homelessness.

The day centre in Bedford is open every day of the year, supporting those who sleep rough, are vulnerably housed and often face issues around social isolation and exclusion. It is funded entirely on charitable donations and grants and the support of the local community; it is a place of safety, meeting the basic needs of service users; providing food, warmth, water, a place to get clean and rest.

WE WOULD LOVE FOR YOU TO VISIT AND ENJOY THE LIGHTS OVER THE FESTIVE PERIOD, AND WE THANK YOU IN ANTICIPATION OF YOUR SUPPORT!!

PLEASE GIVE WHAT YOU ARE ABLE!  ALL DONATIONS ARE GRATEFULLY RECEIVED!!!
