SMART!

Christmas Jumper Marathon!

My Story

I'll be donning my spectacularly tasteless, upcycled Christmas Jumper every day from Friday 13th December until Christmas Day to raise money for SMART Howard House in Oxford.

Howard House is a residential detoxification programme. Residents stay for 12 weeks, attending daily group and one-to-one therapy sessions. They receive medical support to detox from drugs and alcohol, as well as building new life skills and connections to help them stay drug and alcohol free in the future.

Over the years I have been priveleged to witness hundreds of lives transformed thanks to this beautiful project. Many residents return as volunteers and use their experience to inspire and encourage others in their own journey.

Most of the people I'm sending this to will enjoy a fun and happy Christmas, celebrating with families and friends.

For residents of SMART Howard House, making the choice to stay in a detox unit over 'the festive period' can be an incredibly difficult and brave decision. They are separated from the outside world, often sacrificing Christmas with their children and loved one's. They'll spend this time learning, focusing on the issues that have led them to substance misuse and working toward recovery and a brighter future.

I hope you will support me in raising funds for SMART Howard House this Christmas and wishing each and every resident success in their recovery journey!

UPDATE 16/12/19

4 days in and going strong! I've reached my initial target, but every penny makes a difference to the residents at SMART Howard House so I'm not stopping there!

So far, The Christmas Jumper has brought much joy and delight to my daughter and friends (at school and in a busy bowling alley) and raised many eyebrows, earned a few giggles and harnessed some appreciative comments at the Sainsbury's superstore and Oxford Christmas Market! 9 days to go - plenty of time to double my total!

Thank to everyone who's sponsored and supported me so far.
