My Story

As some of you will know, i work at SMART Prebend Centre; Bedford's daytime drop in centre for people who are homeless, vulnerably housed or socially isolated. We offer some of the most basic and fundamental things to our service users, that many of us take for granted in day to day life; a hot shower, toiletries, somwehre to brush your teeth, breakfast, lunch, drinks & enough food to last through the day, fresh underwear, socks, clothing each day, bedding if needed, and, not forgetting a dry, safe space to be in. While helping with these basic provisions, we can also support someone, and refer to other partner agencies for support with housing, benefits, mental health, physical health, education, domestic abuse support, substance misuse and a whole range of other needs.

Me, Hattie, Josh and Rick will be riding the bike ride this year, to help raise money for the centre, because when you work in a Centre like ours, you really do see how every penny counts towards what we offer our service users, and we truly believe that by being where we are, we can continue to help people to help themselves.
